Chiropractic Assistants are multi-skilled practitioners who provide support services to the Chiropractors as part of a care team.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Calls and escorts patients to exam area in a timely manner in order to promote continual flow of patients
Obtain BP utilizing electronic devices, height and weight (when necessary). Documents results in the electronic health record (EHR) per policy and procedure
Obtains HPI information for the Chiropractor
Assists the Chiropractor with exam procedures including orthro/neuro and data entry when needed
Assist the Chiropractor with instruments such as treatment, including hot/cold packs, thumper, exercise explanations, bio freeze application, and educational materials
Assists with call backs and follow-up calls to patients at provider request
Updates white board with accurate wait times
Obtains patient wait list logs and calls potential patients to fill the schedule
Prepares and stocks exam rooms
Assists with patient referrals to Ortho as needed
Maintains professional growth by attending all meetings and in-service trainings
Treats all patients, staff, community and all other customers with respect and courtesy
Utilizes effective means to resolve conflict
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABLITIES
One (1) year Chiropractic Assistant experience preferred
Completion of Medical Assistant (MA) training program
Current CPR required
Must be proficient in scheduling follow-up visits and re-scheduling patients
Ability to uses discretion in situations dealing with confidential patient health information
Effective time management skills
COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS
Must have neat and legible handwriting
Must be able to interact with patients courteously and calmly
Must have strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to communicate well with co-workers, patients and the public
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work well with patients in a generally comfortable office environment. Employees must possess the following physical requirements:
Must be able to hear and communicate with clients and staff on telephone and those who are served in person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds (on wheels)
Must have vision which is adequate to read memo’s, computer screen, registration forms and other clinic documents
Must have high manual dexterity
Able to reach above shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn
